This Saona Special Excursion is available for guests of the La Romana Cruise Ships. If you are looking for an all inclusive Island excursion while in La Romana, this is the right one for you! We bring you to the places of interest and get you back on time!
Saona Special Excursion
We differentiate ourselves from other tour groups by operating independent of the cruise ship with over 10 years of high quality experience in providing excursions for cruise ship passengers. We have the perfect, dailed in logistics so you can simply enjoy and NOT WORRY ABOUT THE TIME. We send you clear instructions regarding the pick up in the port, we track the cruise ship on the radar and are in contact with the port, we know exactly when you arrive and have gotten into the taxi on the way to our office. The ride is 20 minutes each way. We meet at our visitors center on the beach of Bayahibe from where we board the speedboat and the adventure begins. The taxi is already waiting for you on the beach when we come back and you get into the same taxi as you arrived in.
Speedboat
After setting off from Bayahibe, we cruise along the stunning coastline of the Cotubanama National Park, heading toward the awe-inspiring Rocks of Penon, a place once home to the Taino Indians. Keep your eyes peeled! If we’re lucky, we might catch sight of some iguanas basking in their rocky playground, some of them stretching up to 3 feet long. And if we're extra fortunate, dolphins might decide to tag along for the ride near Penon!
Catuano Beach
We arrive at Catuano Beach, our beach stop and SeavisTours' very own concession beach. This stunning spot, framed by swaying palm trees, offers crystal-clear waters and powdery white sand. Relax in one of our beach chairs and soak in the beauty of this tropical paradise. When the conditions perm,it, it is also possible to snorkel here.
A traditional Dominican Barbecue lunch awaits you...
We'll savor a delicious Dominican buffet lunch, with a spread that includes crispy fried chicken, BBQ pork chops, a flavorful rice dish, pasta, a hearty potato dish, and fresh fruits. With such a variety, there's something for everyone! After lunch, you can unwind on the beach, take a refreshing swim, or explore the local artisan souvenir shops.
The Mangroves
After lunch we continue our journey, gliding past the lush Mangroves as we cross the channel that separates Saona Island from the mainland. These mangrove forests are vital nurseries for the ocean, offering crucial protection and nourishment. Due to their importance, the government closed this area to all boat traffic in September 2013. We’ll be cruising right alongside the mangroves—so keep an eye on the water; you might just spot an adult sea turtle making an appearance!
Starfish Sandbank
We save the best for last! The famous "Starfish Sandbank," a renowned "natural swimming pool." This expansive sandbank is famous for its thriving indigenous starfish, and here, you'll feel like you're in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by nothing but beauty. You'll get to see the starfish up close, living peacefully among the seagrass in their natural habitat. The water is shallow, no deeper than waist height, even far from the shore, and it dazzles with stunning shades of turquoise and blue. Drinks are served as you wade in the crystal clear water. This stop is perfect for breath-taking pictures!
After all the fiun in the sun it is time to head back to our office, a 30 minute boat ride along the coast will bring us right back to where we started where the taxi's will be waiting to take you back to the port.
