This tour is available for guests of the Bayahibe, Dominicus, La Romana and Punta Cana hotels and resorts. The Catalina & Chavon tour is available as a half day snorkel excursion to the island Catalina, suitable for guests of the Bayahibe and Dominicus resorts, and as a full day tour suitable for guests of the Punta Cana resorts and hotels. The tour combines the sea and the jungle, nature and culture, and poor and rich. This is a perfect tour for when you want a lot of variation and diversity in your outing. You will be offered the prime snorkeling, extreme relaxing and some peeking at the rich and famous! You will experience a jungle cruise through the breathtaking gorge of the Chavon River...and the opportunity of a reef tour in our unique Semi-Submarine. This all-encompassing tour is ideal for children and offers great value as a family tour (not a “booze cruise”). Itinerary:
This tour is ideal for exploring the underwater world of the Dominican Republic. For experienced snorkelers we have "the Wall", while beginners can attempt "the Aquarium". The trip starts in Bayahibe and after a 20 minute boat ride arrive at “the Wall”, a famous dive and snorkel spot at the Catalina reef. We will snorkel off the boat for 20 – 30 minutes, then head onward to the beach on the west side of Catalina.
The beach at Catalina Island is beautiful, and offers you the chance to snorkel right from the beach at the "Aquarium". You can swim, relax in beach chairs, and explore the beach. We will stay at the beach for 2 hours, providing drinks and snacks to better enjoy the Caribbean paradise. We sometimes get the opportunity of seeing some amazing marine life around Catalina.
Returning to the mainland, we pass La Romana and, in season, will enter the La Romana Cruise ship-Port where huge cruise ships anchor. Leaving the port, we head on to Casa de Campo where the sights include 'marina life'. Sometimes it’s nice to peek at the rich, and this is where they dock their extremely luxurious yachts for days or seasons at a time. We will show you the 'holiday cottages' of Madonna, Shakira and the late Michael Jackson. You may see Vin Diesel too....
Just past Casa de Campo we go up the Rio Chavon. This is again a lushly tropical natural environment. The beautiful gorge has jungle vegetation and when lucky we see vultures circling high above. There will always be pelicans and frigate birds calling to each other. The gorge has been the film set of the blockbusters Jurassic Park and Apocolypse Now. We will drift and relax and then return to Bayahibe after an hour, back at the beach between 1 and 1:30 pm.

You can extend the tour to a full day adventure by joining us for lunch on the beach at our cozy restaurant in Bayahibe. After a traditional Dominican lunch you have time to relax on the beach of Bayahibe before we invite you for a 20 minute tour in our Semi Submarine.
