Safari Adventure Tour
Explore the Dominican Country side
The Safari is an excellent way to explore the country side. This excursion will show you the Dominican lifestyle and some very interesting areas of the country as part of small group (maximum 20 people). The multi-lingual guide will provide interesting facts and information and can answer any questions that you may have. We pick you up from your hotel in an open Safari truck and begin our exploration of the countryside. This excursion is operated by a third party operator. If you really want to explore the jungle and the gorge of the river Chavon you should select the Padre Nuestro Eco Tour
Our first stop is at one of the sponsored schools. You can visit the class room and you'll get information about the school system in the Dominican Republic. Next you can enjoy a 30 mins optional horseback riding along the countryside, an excellent experience for those who never gone riding before and experience riders as well.
Stop and taste freshly cut sugar cane, also visit our new Sugarcane Factory to enjoy a TRAPICHE moved by oxen, (as used in the colonial settlement) where we extract the sugar cane juice called GUARAPO, which our clients have the opportunity to taste, also they can enjoy the whole process from sugar cane, to guarapo, converted into molasses, then to vinasa and finally to our delicious Dominican Rhum. Next we learn about the Dominican Tobacco and see first hand how cigars are made. Also learn about the history of tobacco in the Dominican Republic and its long tradition of making some of the best cigars in the world.
Visit a typical country home to sample fresh exotic Caribbean fruits, roasted coffee, cacao, see and learn how they live from the land and their organic products and have a chance to mingle with the local people.
Visit our Bavaro Runners Ranch right on the Anamuya Mountains. Feast on a typical Dominican buffet to recharge batteries. Enjoy a panoramic birds eye view and refresh yourself in our secluded breathtaking river.
To finalize the day take a dip in the famous and beautiful Macao Beach, this is your opportunity to catch a wave on a moray boogie board or relax while sipping "Cuba Libre" to the soothing sound of nature and also have the chance to enjoy a funny Donkey Ride.
Our first stop is at the sugar cane fields, here you will be given a piece of raw sugar cane to taste. The region around La Romana and Higuey is the largest sugar cane producing area in the Dominican Republic. More than 100,000 people earn their living from Dominican sugar cane production and trade. You will see how the sugar cane is cut and loaded onto the wagons, as well as the old fashioned employment of huge oxen to pull the loaded wagons.
We visit one of our three sponsored schools (depending on the time of the year), learn and see the Dominican educational program and help the children to receive a better education. You also have the option of horse back riding for a half hour on Rancho Betty in Otra Banda.
We visit our latest addition to the excursion: El Trapiche or Ingenio ¨Artesanal¨. Here you will see the evolution of the sugar cane factory from its beginning until now days, also taste our freshly squish guarapo (sugar cane juice) which is prime matter for the world famous Dominican rum and sugar, at the end of this stop you also can join the presentation on the making of Dominican cigars.
After that, we head into the mountains to see a typical Dominican countryside cottage, how coffee and cacao grows, and you can taste a cross section of tropical fruits.
Visit our Ranch right on the Anamuya Mountains. Feast on a typical Dominican buffet to recharge batteries. Enjoy a panoramic bird’s eye view and refresh yourself in our secluded breathtaking river.
At the end visit the largest and most important cathedral in the country, Basilica de La Altagracia, spiritual catholic mother of the Dominicans, learn about the history of this architectonic marvel.
