We will explain the origins of the famous "Mama Juana" and you can taste small Yucca dishes prepared in the traditional Taino way. Yucca (also known as Cassava and Manioc) was the principal crop of the Taino. It was so important to the survival of the people that the Taino communities were called Yucayeques, meaning the "yucca growers". The colonizers took Yucca all over the world; it is now the staple food of around 500 million people and the main source of income for some of the world's poorest farmers.
