This excursion explores the River Chavon and its direct surroundings. The river meanders through a beautiful gorge, the river banks are grown with dense tropical jungle. We will cruise on a traditional river boat to YucaYeque, our Jungle farm on the banks of the river. We lunch at the farm and relax in the Jacuzzi. If you dare you can touch the snakes and spiders, during the short jungle tour.
After our stay on the jungle farm we board the safari truck and visit the Campo Padre Nuestro, a traditional village. We end our tour with a Dominican dance demonstration in Los Ranchos, a typical Caribbean dance venue.

After a short drive from the cruise port (10 minutes) or the hotel (20 minutes from Bayahibe) we will reach the River Chavon. We will board the traditional boat and cruise stream up through the gorge of this beautiful river. The tropical jungle can be seen on the banks. The block busters Apocalypse Now, Rambo 3 and Anaconda were filmed here.

We will reach YucaYeque, our riverside Jungle farm. After a traditional welcome drink we will give more information about the Taino lifestyle. We can visit the traditional Taino hut. We will explain the origins of the famous "Mama Juana" and you can taste small Yucca dishes prepared in the traditional Taino way. Yucca (also known as Cassava and Manioc) was the principal crop of the Taino. It was so important to the survival of the people that the Taino communities were called Yucayeques, meaning the "yucca growers". The colonizers took Yucca all over the world; it is now the staple food of around 500 million people and the main source of income for some of the world's poorest farmers.

You can relax in our jacuzzi, high above the river!! You can test your shooting skills at our shooting range (air guns), you can retreat to one of the hammocks or try your luck with fishing from the fishing platform on the river bank... At lot to do in the Jungle....

Who dares to hold the tarantula?
Those who want can join our jungle trail. The trail takes 20-30 minutes and we show you the typical dry tropical jungle. We will show you the various fruits and vegetables the Tainos Indians gathered from the land. If you dare you can hold the Boas and the Tarantulas.

This is followed by a traditional Dominican "barbacoa" lunch, with pork chops, chicken wings, traditional Dominican rice and various salads. Around 13:00h (Carnival time: 01:00pm) we will leave the farm.

The next stop is in the village of Benerito and in particular the 'Campo Padre Nuestro'. This is the new settlement were the inhabitants of the National Park del Este were relocated when the park got inaugurated. It shows a vibrant and colorful community. We stroll through the village to the tiny market place and experience how the locals live.

Our last stop is at "Los Ranchos" where we present the Dominican Dance Demonstration. Dominicans are well-know for their dancing skills and we will demonstate the Bachata, the Merengue, the reggaeton and the salsa. One of the girls might even give a sensual pole dance demonstration. You can enjoy an ice cold beer and of course you can dance yourself. A fun filled hour to conclude our tour. From Los Ranchos the taxis will take you back to the hotel or to the cruise port.
You will return to the cruise port in time.
